Title: What is Articulation and What does it mean for your Courses?

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN??? If you are unsure about all of the various credit opportunities that each of our transfer courses can have and how they can work for your department, our campus, and, most importantly, our students then do not miss this opportunity.
In this conversation we will review the various layers of course credit, the steps to propose, how to navigate all of the criteria and guidelines, and how a course can meet students transfer needs. We will also review the steps for developing or revising transfer courses and touch on the overall process and timeline, both internal as well as external.
The goal of this discussion is to have our Faculty walking away with a better understanding of Articulation and all of the many components that it includes and to provide further resources & tools to help with meaningful course development.

Title: How Did Precision Engineering Make Henry Ford's Assembly Line Possible?

Description: In modern society, we all count on the ability to go to the store and purchase a replacement piece when something breaks. However, this was not always the case. Precision engineering and statistical process control have effected modern society from the ability to replace a broken piece to the ability to insert a battery and know it will fit. In this talk, we will discuss the development of interchangeable parts starting in the late 1700's when Eli Whitney developed musket pieces so precisely that the pieces were interchangeable.

Title: Spring Vision Board

Description: Let your creativity flow and create a spring vision board. Envision the future you want, put it on paper, and make it your reality! A dream board or vision board is a collage of images, pictures, and affirmations of one's dreams and desires, designed to serve as a source of inspiration and motivation. In this workshop, we will be gluing cut-out pictures and words from magazines onto poster boards. There will be an opportunity to share our boards at the end, if you feel comfortable doing so. Vision boards help us gain self-awareness and self-reflect on what is important to us. They can help us imagine what a positive future could look like. Imagining a positive future is a helpful way to increase positive emotions and optimism. And positive emotions often create opportunities and increase the chances of success. Whether this is something you wholeheartedly believe, are completely skeptical about, or just want to play with scissors and glue, come check it out! At the very least, it will help build community in a relaxing atmosphere.

Description: Come explore the SRJC's Shone Farm! Faculty will guide you through the farm to see the forest, vineyards, vegetables, pastures, facilities and more. This event will allow you to not only learn more about the SRJC's farm, but it will help you discover new ways to connect and collaborate with other faculty and even develop ideas on how to use Shone as a living laboratory for classes in any discipline. Meeting Time & Location: We will meet -- RAIN or SHINE ! -- at the Farm (7450 Steve Olson Ln) in front of main Pavilion at 1 PM. If you would like to carpool to Shone Farm from SRJC, we will meet in the Bech parking lot adjacent to Lark Hall at 12:30. What to Bring: Appropriate clothing and footwear for hiking the farm and forest. Trails will be muddy and may require navigating down wood debris due to the recent storm. Drinking water and snacks are also recommended.

Title: Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Abusive Conduct
Presenters: Keenan
Description: All faculty members are required to successfully complete one (1) hour of sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention training every two (2) years, available online on Professional Development Activities (PDA) days via the employee training portal, which may count as one and a half (1.5) hours toward the flex obligation. Faculty who choose to complete this flex obligation during Spring 2023 PDA will not be eligible to receive pay at the base hourly rate for this requirement. Associate faculty are assigned the training on the day preceding the first pay date of the semester and must complete the training by the semester flex deadline in which the training is assigned. Contract faculty are assigned the training by the first contract day of the fall semester and must complete the training by the spring flex deadline in the academic year in which the training is assigned.
